Terms of Service
Effective date: 26 April 2026
These Terms govern your use of Fincharta. By creating an account or using the service you confirm you have read and accepted them. They form a legally binding contract between you and Fincharta Limited (Company No. 16401198), registered office 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX.
1. The service
Fincharta is a software-as-a-service product that reads UK bank statement PDFs or CSV exports you upload, categorises and analyses transactions, and produces plain-English financial reports for small business owners.
Fincharta is not a regulated financial advice service. We do not provide accounting, legal, tax, or investment advice. Our reports are informational only. Consult a qualified accountant or financial adviser for any decisions with legal, tax, or financial consequences.
2. Your account
You agree to:
- Provide accurate information when signing up
- Keep your login credentials secure and not share them
- Notify us immediately at security@fincharta.co.uk if you suspect unauthorised access
- Be responsible for all activity under your account
You must be at least 18 and have authority to bind any business you represent.
3. Your data
You own the data you upload. You grant us a limited licence to process it solely to operate the service for you. We do not claim ownership and do not use your data to train AI models. See our Privacy Policy for details.
You confirm that:
- You have the right to upload the data (e.g., it's your own bank statement, or your business's, and you're authorised to act for the business)
- The data does not infringe anyone else's rights
- The data is not illegal, offensive, or misleading
4. Plans and payment
4.1 Plans
| Plan | Price | Cycle | Cancel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quick Look | £0 | n/a | n/a |
| Monthly Check | £12 | Monthly | Anytime |
| Business Pulse | £29 | Monthly | Anytime |
| Full Control | £49 | Monthly | Anytime |
All prices exclusive of VAT. Plan features and usage limits as published at fincharta.co.uk/pricing. We may change pricing or features with at least 30 days' notice; existing customers' rates remain unchanged for the remainder of their current billing period.
4.2 Payment
Paid plans are billed monthly in advance via Stripe. By subscribing you authorise us to charge your payment method on each billing date. Update your payment method anytime in Settings → Billing. If a charge fails, we retry up to three times over seven days. If all retries fail, your account moves to Quick Look until payment is made.
4.3 Refunds
No refunds for partial months. If you cancel mid-month, your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact billing@fincharta.co.uk within 14 days.
4.4 Cancellation
Cancel anytime in Settings → Billing → Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Your account stays active until then with full feature access. After cancellation, your account moves to Quick Look and your historical reports remain accessible.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble Fincharta
- Use the service to do anything illegal or harmful
- Upload viruses, malware, or destructive code
- Try to gain unauthorised access to other accounts or our systems
- Scrape, mass-download, or systematically extract content
- Resell or sublicense the service without our written permission
- Use the service in a way that disrupts other users' access
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules.
6. Service availability
We aim for 99.5% monthly uptime but do not guarantee it. The service may be unavailable for scheduled maintenance, emergency security patches, third-party provider issues, or force majeure.
Fincharta is not a real-time financial system; it produces reports from statements you upload. Brief unavailability does not affect your business operations. Our liability for unavailability is limited accordingly (see section 9).
7. Intellectual property
All software, design, content, and trademarks of Fincharta are owned by Fincharta Limited or our licensors. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership to you. You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Fincharta while your account is active. You retain all rights in the data you upload.
8. Termination
You may terminate anytime via Settings → Danger Zone or by emailing hello@fincharta.co.uk.
We may terminate or suspend your account if:
- You materially breach these Terms
- Payment fails repeatedly
- You request termination
- We are required to by law
- We discontinue the service (with at least 90 days' notice and a data export option)
On termination, your data is deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We recommend exporting your data via Settings → Data Export before terminating.
9. Liability
Important — read carefully
This section limits what we are responsible for. To the fullest extent permitted by UK law:
(a) Fincharta is provided "as is". We do not guarantee it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that the categorisation or analysis is perfect. Always sense-check Fincharta's outputs against your actual financial position.
(b) We are not liable for any:
- Loss of profits, revenue, business opportunity, or savings
- Loss of goodwill or reputation
- Indirect, consequential, or special losses
- Tax penalties or accounting errors that result from relying solely on Fincharta's outputs
- Decisions you make based on Fincharta's analysis (always sense-check with a qualified professional)
(c) Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to the service is capped at the greater of: (i) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (ii) £100.
(d) Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under UK law
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Fincharta against losses we incur as a result of:
- Your breach of these Terms
- Data you upload that infringes someone else's rights
- Your use of the service in a way that breaks the law
11. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes communicated by email at least 30 days before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date counts as acceptance.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be heard in the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, your local statutory rights are unaffected.
We prefer informal resolution — email hello@fincharta.co.uk before any legal action and we'll try to find a fair resolution.
13. Miscellaneous
- Severability — if any clause is unenforceable, the rest still applies
- Assignment — you cannot transfer your account or rights without our written permission. We can assign these Terms to a successor (e.g., on acquisition) with notice
- No partnership — these Terms do not create a partnership, agency, or joint venture
- Entire agreement — these Terms plus the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy are the entire agreement between us
- Notices — we send notices to your account email; legal notices to legal@fincharta.co.uk, copy to the registered office above
